Tips of the day have been few and far between here on the blog.  BUT I have a great one to share today…

HOW DO YOU REHEAT LEFTOVER PIZZA?

For as long as I can remember I have been heating up leftover pizza in the oven.  I crank up the oven to about 400 degrees F,  put the leftover slice(s) on a baking sheet, and in about 15 minutes or so I have a pretty good slice of reheated pizza.  But sometimes I just do not want to wait for the oven to heat and then wait another 15 minutes for the pizza to warm up. By the time it is all said and done 30 minutes has gone by. 30 minutes at lunch time can sometimes be a little too long a wait.  But other than the microwave (which I don’t like for pizza), I haven’t had any other ideas.

Well no ideas until recently that is. A few weekends ago I had a few slices of leftover pizza to warm up and dreaded the 30 minute wait time. As I was making grilled mozzarella cheese sandwiches for my kids, it hit me: “Why can’t I heat the pizza in the panini press?” I decided it was worth a shot so ……..

Leftover Panini Pizza

…. I folded the pizza in half (lengthwise) and pulled down the lid. In a few minutes I had a crispy on the outside and cheesy on the inside Pizza Panini.

Because I really wanted to get those cool lines on my slice (which turned out to be a lot harder than I thought), I turned the pizza clockwise about halfway through.  If your panini is hot it will take just minutes to get this heated and served.

I’m calling it the “Pizza-Nini” because it is part pizza and part panini.  Serve it cut in half like a panini or just cut into squares for little Pizza-Nini bites.  These could be great for after school snacks or the perfect appetizer for your next event.

NOTE: YOU CAN DEFINITELY TRY THIS WITH A WAFFLE MAKER, I BET IT WOULD WORK IT JUST AS GREAT!
