Thanksgiving is over and the holiday season has oficially begun.  I bet like me, you are really excited to welcome December and relish in those happy little faces as the enchantment of the winter holidays begin.  For many of us, this is the most wonderful time of year.  But sadly, for many (too many), this time of year is wrought with fear and anxiety.  While many of us worry about where to find our next great holiday bargain, many families are faced with the fears that their children will go hungry while school is out.

Due to economic hardships, many children in this country rely on the daily meals they receive in school.  When school is out they are often faced with the reality that their next meal might not come until school begins again.  Can you imagine what it must feel like to go hungry for a day let alone a week or more? I believe childhood hunger is one of the most tragic social issues are country is faced with.  That’s why No Kid Hungry Share our Strength is such an imperative organization to our society.  They work hard every day raising money to ensure children of this country do not have to ever miss a meal.

On behalf of No Kid Hungry, I would like to share with you one of the most important days this holiday season – #GivingTuesday . What is Giving Tuesday?

#GivingTuesday is a global day dedicated to giving back. On Tuesday, December 1, 2015, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give. It’s a simple idea. This is a day dedicated to giving back.

Giving Tuesday

Today, I am asking my friends and followers this #GivingTuesday, to make a donation to No Kid Hungry so we can Share our Strength and help make “No Kid Hungry” a reality.   Also, if you give tomorrow, Hickory Farms and Kettle Brand will be matching all donations up to $100,000, so for every $1 you donate, No Kid Hungry can help connect a hungry kid with up to 20 meals.

Please remember this holiday season, in the midst of the hustle and bustle and trying to find the best deal on gifts for your family and friends, that this is the season for giving over all else and what more rewarding way is there to give back than to help feed a child.

 Happy Holidays and Happy Giving,

Tina
