This one’s for my friend Jill …..
STORYTIME:
With a not so well stocked pantry yesterday, I found myself standing in the grocery store at 5:00 pm with absolutely no idea what to make for dinner.
Does this happen to you? Lately, this has been the story of my life.
Anyway, in the midst of my dinner dilemma PANIC and without any rhyme or reason, I started to throw all sorts of items into my cart.
Then as I was getting ready to check out, still without a clue, I looked down and spotted my own go to meal…Cavatelli and Broccoli.
Yes I thought, this is what I am making for dinner!
How hard is it to make Cavatelli and Broccoli
Cavatelli and broccoli is by far the easiest and tastiest meal you could make. All you need to pull this together is cavatelli pasta and broccoli.
I use frozen broccoli when I am in a pinch for this recipe because it’s just one of my pantry (freezer) staples.
You will also need olive oil, fresh garlic, grated parmesan (or romano) cheese, and a little butter. Also items I generally keep in my pantry. That’s why this is a go-to meal for me.
The most important tip for making this dish successfully is make sure to salt your cooking water well, like ocean water well. This is what will help flavor your pasta as it cooks, as well as flavor your final pasta dish when you put it all together. Also, add the water gradually, give a little a taste as you go. You don’t need to add all the water if it is going to dilute the flavor.
No matter what it is keeping us on the run, we all have one thing in common….we need to eat. At least I do. So whether you are a busy mom or dad on the go, getting home late from work, or anything in between, this Cavatelli and Broccoli dinner is for you.
