As an avid home-cook, food blogger and food enthusiast I have been privileged to be involved with many wonderful organizations, business’, and events.  As you may or may not know, I am honored to be among many food bloggers that support the movement Share our Strength No Kid Hungry.  This is an organization that is dedicated to ending childhood hunger in America.

The struggle is real….

I’m not sure if it’s my Italian upbringing, my maternal instinct, human nature or all of the above, but the thought of any child going hungry brings about a sadness in me that I just can’t explain. For many of us, our children leave home everyday with a full stomach never wondering if they will eat lunch or even dinner. But unfortunately, in our country that is not the case for all children.

Did you know about 1 out of 5 children struggles with hunger in America? That’s an alarming statistic. As a mother, I can’t imagine the pain a parent feels when their child has to go hungry. Moreover, the physical and emotional pains a child feels when they are hungry.  It’s not something we often want to think about or even hear about, but the struggle is REAL.

How can you help?

In an effort to help No Kid Hungry end childhood hunger I wanted to let you know about an upcoming event called ” chefcycle”.  Chef cycle is a coast to coast bike ride comprised of nearly 50 chefs and restaurant industry professionals who are riding bikes from New York City to Washington, DC and Santa Barbara to San Diego to raise money for No Kid Hungry.  Their goal is to raise 100,00 meals for kids in need.  For every $10 they raise 100 meals can be provided. You can help by following the chefs as they ride and supporting their efforts with a donation today.  DONATE HERE

I am supporting one of my favorite Top Chef contestants, Chef Bryan Voltagggio.  You can read more on all the participants by clicking on the chefcycle icon above. Please join me in supporting the participants as they ride 300 miles each to bring meals to kids in need.

Your support can and will make a difference!
