It’s that  time of year where we are all looking for those FALL family favorites. Apple Cider Donut Holes are on the top of that list for me. Especially when they are freshly made! What is better on a cool, crisp fall day than a warm donut with your favorite hot cup of coffee or tea?!

When did you have your first Apple Cider Donut?

I remember the first time I had an apple cider donut, surprisingly, it was not that many years ago.  My son was still little and my daughter was not born yet.

Anyway, we went apple picking with friends and someone from our group suggested buying apple cider donuts. Something I’ve never tried before. A little shocking I know.

I can remember that moment clear as day, reaching into that bag and pulling out that warm, sugary cinnamon coated donut and taking that first bite. It literally melted in my mouth.

After sipping my warm coffee, I thought, wow- I can’t believe I’ve never tried this before.

At that moment I became hooked on this little tasty treat.

The Pampered Chef Donut Hole Pan

This recipe was right up my alley, an easy cake mix donut batter that was really reminiscent of my first bite many years ago.

Not to mention… you guys know, there’s  nothing I love more than a recipe hack. Especially, when we’re talking easy baked apple cider donut holes!

So why am I posting this recipe again?

Well technically I am not posting the recipe again – you’ll have to grab that from the recipe post titled MINI APPLE CIDER DOUGHNUT CUPCAKES  but I am sharing how I recreated it using my new donut hole pan.

Honestly, you don’t even need me to reshare the recipe here, it couldn’t be easier.  All you need to do is just follow the instructions on the cake mix box (I prefer vanilla mix), substitute the water with apple cider, add some fall spice – I use nutmeg and cinnamon.

Actually, in the original recipe I only use nutmeg, but decided to cut back on the nutmeg to 1 teaspoon and then add a teaspoon of ground cinnamon.

The next steps couldn’t be easier,  just mix all the ingredients together and bake in the oven.  When they are done roll them (while still warm) into a mixture of cinnamon and sugar.  Mmmmmm!
